Hospitality & Catering at Wakefield College

The hospitality and catering industry is the largest growing sector in the world, but there is a shortage of skilled staff within the industry.

The majority of our students gain full- time employment before they’ve even finished their course with us!

Teaching isn’t confined to the classroom. You’ll use Gaskell’s, our award-winning training restaurant which is open to the public, our bar, Deli shop, industry- standard training kitchens and conference suite.

Wakefield College is enabling pupils to build their confidence in the kitchen by hosting a range of cooking demonstrations with local secondary schools. As part of cookery week, the College’s Hospitality & Catering department delivered culinary sessions with pupils from Rodillian Academy and Oulton Academy where they learned how to make and present a range of dishes.

A group of environmental activists walking from Spain to Glasgow for the CoP26 summit stopped over at Wakefield College recently. Catering students from the College welcomed the walkers to Gaskell’s Restaurant and prepared an array of mouth-watering food.
