As a delivery partner for the ESF funded project Higher Performing Workplaces (managed by the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges), Wakefield College is delivering remote learning courses which aim to help businesses with empowering leaders. This range of courses has been developed to nurture and progress leadership skills. Wakefield College is delivering CMI accredited qualifications and units in Management and Leadership at levels 3 and 5.
These courses can be undertaken remotely, with full tutor support, using a combination of video conferencing, online learning platforms and assignments. Participants can learn at their own pace and at a time and place of their choosing.
Individuals who are accessing training through HPW will be able to access coaching from a selection of coaches contracted by WYCC. This coaching should support individuals to embed the learning into the work of the business and is also eligible for 40% ESF funding.
To access the coaching, the business/individual will be offered a choice of online coaching profiles to search and choose from. WYCC will help facilitate the booking of the coaching.
Higher Performing Workplaces is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and managed by the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges. This means that eligible businesses can receive 40% ESF funding towards the cost of any HPW training.

Business must be based in one of the following districts: Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield or York (Check district on the Gov.Uk website). The individual undertaking the training must be 18 or over and eligible to work in the UK.

The WYCC Higher Performing Workplaces contract (£1.5million) delivers packages of skills support to grow internal talent in SMEs change to businesses.
Higher Performing Workplaces (HPW) will address the skills and productivity issues of employees in in sectors presenting the greatest opportunities for economic growth in Leeds City Region.
Higher Performing Workplaces aims to:
- Improve staff motivation, leadership, communication and teamwork;
- Increase staff retention;
- Enhance employee involvement and commitment to the company; and
- Ensure higher levels of financial performance by employers enhance and enable business strategy and operational planning to achieve growth.
Higher Performing Workplaces is managed by the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges and funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).
