Our course is designed to give you the confidence to complete computer related tasks used in everyday situations, but also develop basic skills to help you in any professional role.

Learn how to...

  • use digital skills to handle information, including how to create, find and organise files;
  • create and edit digital content using different applications to enter, edit, format, enhance and save work;
  • use digital skills to communicate through email and other forms of online communication suitable for different purposes;
  • work online and use digital devices safely and responsibly including the storing of personal and sensitive data and being able to identify risks and threats;

Digital User Skills in Microsoft Word & Excel

This course aims to develop your knowledge, understanding and competence in using two of the leading Microsoft Office applications – Microsoft Word and Excel.

In Microsoft Word, learn how to:

  • edit, format and arrange information in Word;
  • modify the style and layout of a Word document to enhance presentation;
  • proof, check for errors, and print documents.

In Microsoft Excel, learn how to:

  • create spreadsheets to carry out calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages and totals;
  • present spreadsheet data in different ways, using numbers, text and graphs;
  • Review spreadsheets to ensure accuracy, making corrections as necessary.

IT User Skills in Microsoft Office

This course aims to develop your knowledge, understanding and competence in using two of the leading Microsoft Office applications – Microsoft Word and Excel.

Learn how to:

  • Improving Productivity Using ICT (Mandatory Unit) - learn to plan and review the use of appropriate IT systems and software;
  • Word Processing Software - covers creating, editing, and formatting text files according to a house style, importing data from other applications and using numeric and tabular data, images and graphs;
  • Spreadsheet Software - develop skills in using complex formulae and functions to analyse and interpret data using a variety of charts and graphs;
  • Database Software - learn to modify simple, non-relational databases, create queries using multiple selection criteria and create reports;
  • Presentation Software - gain greater familiarity with presentation software including the use of complex presentations and slide show techniques.
