Two students gain Apprenticeships from Work Placement experience

Two Level 2 Fabrication and Welding students have successfully gained apprenticeships with MD Engineering Solutions Ltd, based at Whitwood Castleford. MD Engineers provide engineering solutions to the brewing, distilling and process industries and after successful work placements, they have offered Abdulahi Ali and Connor Walton full time apprenticeships, with an immediate start.

Wakefield College purchase new AC/DC High Frequency sate of the art TIG welding sets

Wakefield College has purchased new AC/DC High Frequency state-of-the-art TIG sets. It enables the College to become an Endpoint Assessment Centre for Welding Standards in the Apprenticeship Framework and a Welding Institute (TWI) Approved Coded Welding Centre.

Wakefield College enter new partnership with OE Electrics

Electrical manufacturer OE Electrics has established a partnership with Wakefield College to offer two engineering apprenticeships to local students and is confident this will be the first of many apprenticeship opportunities to be offered through the partnership.

Skillweld 2018 competition

Two Wakefield College students have passed the first stage of Skillweld competition 2018. The competition has 3 progressive stages; each stage builds on the last to challenge the competitor to develop their weld skills. At each stage the competitors Welding test pieces are marked against a set criteria.
