Holocaust survivor visits Wakefield College

Students from Wakefield College were given a first-hand account of the Holocaust this week when survivor Marc Schatzberger visited to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. Marc delivered a talk to students on the Public Services, Law and Politics courses and took questions helping students gain a deeper understanding of the Holocaust.
Wakefield College beauty student nails it

A talented Wakefield College beauty student has been named the best in the business after striking gold in a national competition. Sarah Greaves, 29, who studies on the Level 3 Nail Technicians course at the College’s Castleford Campus, won the gold award in the Nails Services category at the World Skills National Finals Event held at the NEC, Birmingham.

A congregation of more than 500 gathered at Wakefield Cathedral last Saturday to see students from the University Centre at Wakefield College receive higher level qualifications at the annual Graduation Ceremony. This year’s guest speaker Mary Creagh, MP for Wakefield, took the opportunity to praise the College for its hard work and congratulated the graduates on their achievements.

Creative web design students from Wakefield College put their tech skills to good use when they revamped the official website of a local community group. The College’s Web Design Foundation Degree (FdA) students overhauled the website of Lightwaves, giving it a new, sleek and professional look.
