Students from Castleford College and Wakefield College are dreaming big after securing their results today, with students heading on to Russell Group universities and prosperous careers in a range of industries.
For Wakefield College’s A Level subjects, nine subjects achieved a 100% pass rate including Art, Design & Media, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English Language and Film Studies, with English Literature continuing its remarkable streak by achieving a 100% pass rate for the 19th year running.
Amongst this year’s top A Level achievers is George Mullan, who secured a place at the University of East Anglia to study Medicine, after achieving three A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.
George said: “The University of East Anglia was my first-choice university so I’m extremely happy I’ve got the grades to study Medicine there. I’ve always wanted to be a Surgeon from a young age as my mum works in the healthcare sector and I really look up to her.”
Another ambitious Surgeon, Muhammad Hussain is going to study Medicine at the University of Newcastle after securing an A* in Biology, an A in Chemistry and a B in Economics.
Muhammad was confident that studying these subjects at Wakefield College would secure him a place at his dream university, stating “The teaching on my courses was great and the small class sizes meant that I got the support that I needed to succeed.”
Wakefield College and Castleford College’s T Level programmes also saw a 100% pass rate in Business & Management, Digital Production, Education and Early Years, Engineering and Health.
Julie Hyde, Director of External and Regulatory Affairs at the NCFE - the awarding body for both College’s T Level programmes in Education & Early Years and Health – attended the College to congratulate the students on their results.
Julie said: "I want to congratulate all the students receiving their results today. It's the culmination of their hard work and they should feel very proud. I also want to recognise the dedicated work of the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group in facilitating these journeys and supporting students to follow their ambitions. We look forward to seeing students go on to fulfil their potential either in work, an apprenticeship, or in higher education, where it's fantastic to see an increase in universities now accepting T Levels."

Sam Wright, Chief Executive and Principal at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group, expressed her pride in the achievements of the students: “It’s been delightful to see so many students with smiling faces today after securing places at their dream universities or employment in their chosen industries. Throughout our students’ time with us, we strive to deliver an all-encompassing study programme which not only enables them to succeed in their studies and achieve their ambitions, but also helps to build their confidence and independence to prepare them for their next steps in life.”
