Apprenticeships Apprenticeship Awards

The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group is delighted to have been shortlisted for a number of accolades at the West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2023.

Hosted by the Yorkshire Evening Post in collaboration with Halifax Courier and Wakefield Express, the awards celebrate those who have excelled in their chosen fields and inspired others to consider embarking on an Apprenticeship scheme.

The Group has been shortlisted for the Training Provider/Programme of the Year, demonstrating its ability to enable apprentices to develop practical, hands-on skills which are sought by employers across a range of industries.

Working with over 1,000 apprentices and 500 employers including SMEs and national organisations, the Group designs and delivers its Apprenticeship programmes with employer and apprentice-focused goals in mind.

This includes qualifications for an array of high-demand sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Emergency Contact Handling, Engineering, Health, Care, Dental and Wellbeing, Green Technologies and Vehicle/Motorcycle Maintenance.

Addressing skills demands, the Group has recently developed a new emergency services contact handling Apprenticeship, which will be delivered to blue light organisations and NHS 111 call centres across the region.

In the last year alone, the Group has provided the Mid Yorkshire NHS Hospitals Trust with over 300 apprentices, helping to resolve staffing issues and skills needs within the NHS. This enables the Trust to generate a ready-made workforce, whilst creating opportunities for life-long, sought-after careers within the NHS.

Sam Wright, Principal and Chief Executive at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group, said: “We always strive for excellence when it comes to designing and delivering our Apprenticeship programmes, so we’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Trainer Provider of the Year award. Thanks to our collaborative approach, we proudly deliver Apprenticeships which address and meet the skills priorities of a range of industries, ensuring that employers have a ready-made pipeline of talent and that our apprentices can progress onto fulfilling careers.”

Level 3 Business Administration apprentice Chloe Smith has also been shortlisted for the Advanced Apprentice of the Year award, acknowledging the commitment and enthusiasm she has shown to her Apprenticeship.

Working within the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group’s Apprenticeships Team, Chloe deals with Apprenticeship enrolments and the promotion of its provision through digital content and successful events.

As part of her role, Chloe supports apprentices’ journeys from the moment they enquire with the Group - creating targets for apprentices and setting up apprentice surveys.

The ceremony will be held at the brand-new Tileyard North, in Wakefield, on Wednesday 24th May 2023.
