Student reaches final of international culinary competition

A Hospitality and Catering student at Wakefield College has reached the final of the international app-based culinary competition, the CombiGuru Challenge. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery student Jarret Edwards will travel to Italy for the final on 4th May 2023, where he will prepare a dish from a mystery box of ingredients selected by Unox.

The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group is inviting the public to take part in free English and Mathematics courses over the Easter break – enabling them to boost their literacy and numeracy skills.

The intensive three-day courses will enable learners to confidently apply these skills to everyday life and work settings, enhancing their prospects in education, training and employment.


Wakefield Children’s University to hold May-Hem event for all!

The May-Hem! open event is an opportunity for CU members and their friends and family to take part in activities provided by Learning Destinations and College tutors, all under one roof! The event is open to all, between the ages of 5-14, and is free to attend.


Former student reaches SAS: Who Dares Wins final

Former Engineering student of Castleford College, Faye Banks, successfully reached the final of the latest series of SAS: Who Dares Wins. Faye was one of 20 recruits who were put through their paces by the SAS: Who Dares Wins instructors Billy Billingham and his team of directing staff Jason Fox, Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver.

Group and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust hit 100th Apprentice milestone

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust recently welcomed its 100th Apprentice with the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group since August 2022 - demonstrating the significant impact Apprenticeships have in supporting the economy.

Macey Denise Brooks, who is the 100th apprentice, will begin her Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals…
