Wakefield College is preparing to launch a new Construction Training Site at Thornes Park in Wakefield for September 2021!
In partnership with Wakefield Council and supported by Wilmott Dixon and Elliott UK, the college is establishing a training site to address the shortage of multi-trade site operatives in the sector within the Yorkshire and Humberside region. With employment in this sector expected to grow further with the planned infrastructure works in the region through and beyond 2025 this provision will address those shortages by offering Construction Site Operative training for the district.
Suzanne Black, Head of Curriculum for Construction said “Our Construction Site Operatives Training Centre is an exciting venture for the college; the generous contributions of Wakefield Council, Willmott Dixon, and Elliott have supported us immensely in getting this started.”
Andrew Hurcomb, Yorkshire director for Willmott Dixon, said: “Our industry needs more skilled people and we’re proud to be able to play this small part, with the help of our colleagues at Elliott, in helping Wakefield College create a fantastic environment to train and inspire the next generation of West Yorkshire’s construction professionals.”
Wakefield College is working with the sector to address the potential skills shortage and is offering training for both those looking to start a career and to enhance skills of those already employed at this Thornes Park Provision.
