FLEX group B with City of Sanctuary volunteers Tracy and Noor

FLEX students have shown tremendous support for local charity City of Sanctuary with a huge donation of items.

City of Sanctuary was established in the wake of Wakefield’s initiative to become a city of sanctuary to the public sector back in 2010. The charity supports asylum seekers who are here legally but have no financial support. They provide them with food, toiletries, clothing, toys in addition to support and friendship.

After a visit from the charity, FLEX Group B voiced their support for the charity and began working on not only raising awareness but collecting a large donation of essential items that the charity needs to be able to support the asylum seekers.

City of Sanctuary volunteers Tracy and Noor visited the department last week to collect the donation and personally thank the students and staff for their continued support.
