Wakefield College Student Jack Croft has signed a four-year professional contract with Wakefield Trinity RLFC.

Croft, who studies Level 3 Sport at the College and is a part of the Rugby Development Programme, was given the chance to train with the first team over summer and impressed head coach Chris Chester. Excellent performances for both the College and Wakefield Trinities Academy side has put Croft in an exceptional position to kick on with his dream of becoming a professional rugby player.

Croft is part of the double national championship team of 2017/18 and at only 17 is one of the youngest in the squad. The strength and conditioning and technical sessions held at the College have been a great boost for his development. He is now the fourth Wakefield College student in three years to be handed a super league contract with Wakefield Trinity on top of the several others being offered professional and semi-professional contracts at Championship and Division one clubs.

Head of Competitive Sport at the College Ben Severn says, “It’s a great testament to Jack and all the effort he has put in to be given this contract. He is a top lad who applies himself in the classroom and on the pitch and is finally reaping his rewards. He has a bright future and we wish him all the best.”

Croft will be training with the first team around his College timetable to ensure he gets the best of both training and education.
