Wakefield College receiving their showcase centre plaque

Wakefield College’s Castleford Campus has been named as a showcase centre for motor vehicle study by the ABC awarding body.

Wakefield College Principal Sam Wright was joined by college staff, students and ABC Director of Awards, Fiona Grant at an informal event to mark the occasion. The College was presented with a commemorative plaque and joins a select group of colleges from across the country that has achieved showcase centre status.

Programme Area Manager, Graham Sherwin said: “This is a great honour for the College and in particular our motor vehicle department. We want to give all our learners the best experience possible and prepare them well for the future. It’s great we can teach in industry-standard facilities that are recognised as amongst the best in the country.

“Our facilities and expertise of our tutors allow us to offer specialist courses including the new MOT testers’ courses. Wakefield College is one of only a handful of centres offering these courses in the Yorkshire region”

ABC Awards Director of Awarding Services, Fiona Grant, “ABC Awards is delighted to congratulate Wakefield College on becoming a Showcase Centre. The automotive learning facilities are highly impressive, giving a true hands on and professional environment for the students to learn and progress further in. This realistic working environment truly proves itself in that 96% of HE Students were in employment six months after graduating last year.”
